The Carter Wedding

One day, many perspectives—vows, voices, photographs, music, and the moments between them.

Simone & Andre Carter · Atlanta · September 12

One weekend told through the moments the formal gallery usually leaves out: the night-before toast, the vows with crossed-out lines, and the reception dance nobody wanted to end.

The night before

Aunt Denise abandoned her prepared remarks halfway through. The room got quiet, then Simone laughed first—and everybody followed.

What they promised

The cards were folded into Andre's inside pocket after the ceremony. The edits, fingerprints, and bent corners are part of the record.

9:47 PM · the floor opened up

By the second song, three generations were in the circle. This is the image the family kept sending back to one another.
